I absolutely freakin' love Autumn because I know the along with the leaves turning and the temperatures of summer fading, Halloween is lurking around the corner. It just puts a smile on my face thinking about it!

Although I read these kinds of books all year around, I tend to go on overload as Halloween approaches. Here are some of my recommendations getting into the Halloween spirit. They aren't all centered around Halloween, but are effective just the same.

  1. Ghost Road Blues – Jonathan Maberry
  2. Dark Harvest – Norman Partridge
  3. Pet Sematary – Stephen King
  4. Something Wicked This Way Comes – Ray Bradbury
  5. Heart-Shaped Box – Joe Hill
  6. The Shining – Stephen King
  7. Ghost Story – Peter Straub
  8. Books of Blood – Clive Barker
  9. They Thirst – Robert McCammon
  10. Salem's Lot – Stephen King
  11. Hell House – Richard Matheson
  12. The Amityville Horror – Jay Anson
  13. Carrion Comfort – Dan Simmons
  14. Seed – Ania Ahlborn

  17. Dead Sea – Brian Keene
  18. The Haunting of Hill House – Shirley Jackson
